super 8 film 2: yes it is
Virginia Hilyard, 1985, Black and White, 4 mins, Stnopsis: An experiment with memory, loss and the untouchable - three friends part., a chemical reaction - (V.H.) (Australian Super 8 Films 1981-1986, 1989)
super 8 film 1: square bashing
Stephen Harrop, 1982, Colour, 10 mins, Synopsis: "I'm in charge here, me"......and immediately the film becomes a series of statements and events without any determinate origin leaving nowhere for authority to stake it's claim. The film empowers itself to explore the sensibilities of prohibited intercourse. By ignoring the conventions of linearity, subjectivity, narrativity, the lost insignificant moments of all films can be casually reunited to produce unauthorised effects of passion and comic transgression. (Australian Super 8 Films 1981-1986, 1989)

super 8 as music video
some good music music video articles from goma include jump cut:music video music aesthetics and pictures acme and broke your heart
the gesture
excremental article in tate etc summer 10
"Artist/critic Brian O'Doherty calls gestures "a form of invention". He says the formal content of a gesture consists of its "aptness, economy and grace". A gesture is didactic to the degree that it teaches "by irony and epigram, by cunning and by shock". All these qualities derive from its poetic compression. As such, even though Manzoni spent much of his artistic career honing a reductivist literalism, one can easily read metaphors into Merda d'artista."
post punk design
out of the blues articlec i tate etc summer 10
"When it came to punk rock, designers set out to demystify the process and unhinge the obvious connections with advertising and consumerism. It wasn't the same then. Privatisation had yet to kill off the idea of public service, and pop video was still a nascent form. Great punk sleeves such as the Sex Pistols' Holidays in the Sun were totemic, because here was a critical and independent voice, Jamie Reid, talking about mindless consumerism in the best journalistic tradition of art and mass-media culture while still achieving good packaging. Even if you were apart from this more aggressive aesthetic, it was impossible to boast immunity. The black-and-white, politicised Daily Mirror and New Musical Express were the popular, influential outlets, and magazines would have to wait for The Face for a style upgrade."
the house: 1
in tate' s magazine tate etcan artilce on inner visions talks about gregor schneider and his haus ur project.
"since he was sixteen , the german artist gregor schneider has been transforming the interior of his father's house into a series of claustrophobic rooms, chamber and dark basements ... his approach to the domestic interior is obsesive, focusing on the physical experience of these places."
a post-modern approach to the house that is a good reference to private house / public life.
panc attack! art in the punk years
